  • Overview

In 2008, the Wood Wharf master plan was one of the largest planning applications ever submitted in the UK.  RWDI's wind analysis has informed how building facades, forms, and orientations as well as functional external amenity spaces have been designed into the master plan.

Please note, the rendering and some of the wind tunnel models show early design concepts.

  • Services

    • Wind comfort
    • Heat extraction
  • Benefits

Advanced the site master plan: Provided early design guidance to advance the master plan design through strategic orientation of building massing and form in relation to the site meteorological climate.

Enhanced the wind microclimate: Performed in-depth analysis of the local wind environment and mitigation of high wind speeds.

    Increased pedestrian comfort:
Managed wind patterns to provide conditions to suit a range of desired pedestrian usages throughout the master plan.

Facilitated the success of a dockwater cooling strategy:
Assisted in developing an energy saving model to use the adjacent dockwater for cooling/heat rejection.
