  • Overview

The bold China Central Television Headquarters (CCTV) building has complicated three-dimensional properties that include two towers swaying in the same direction, two towers moving in different directions, and the top link moving up and down.

For structural design purposes, it was necessary to ensure that all the critical wind effects were considered.

  • Services

    • Cladding loading and pressures
    • Wind induced vibration
    • Wind comfort
    • Drifting
    • Roof snow loading
  • Benefits

    • Comprehensive wind testing and analysis for one of the most complex structures ever studied at RWDI gave the structural design team confidence in the two buildings response to wind induced loading for worst case scenarios.
    • Controlling the vertical dynamic response of the top link was shown to be the most important contribution to the design
    • Comfort levels were found to be acceptable for the top occupied floor
