Meteorological / Site Assessment: Bridge Topographic Model Study

Topography can impact the local direction of the wind, the wind speeds at deck height, and the turbulence intensities along the deck. The effects can be evaluated by testing a topographic model in a wind tunnel. Results are used to set the test wind conditions for a sectional model study and / or aeroelastic model study and to arrive at accurate loads due to wind buffeting.
