Meteorological / Site Assessment: Bridge Full Scale Measurements
Meteorological conditions are recorded at the bridge site and analyzed for verification of wind speed scaling factors used for the local meteorological station in derivation of site-specific criteria. Wind speed and direction are typically measured. In addition, fundamental turbulence properties such as intensity of turbulence and correlation lengths can also be obtained. These measurements help in removing conservatism built into wind standards adopted for design and in refining stability criteria and load estimates.
