Ray was in the right field at the right time when he graduated with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1991. He called a few possible employers. RWDI made him an offer almost instantly. Today, the firm's CFD practice is one of the worlds most respected thanks to his initial leadership and the strong team that has developed. Ray's other two professional passions: integrated sustainable building design, and marketing. He leads both at RWDI.

Outside of work, Ray spends a lot of time with his family, often in forests. He and his wife live in a forest, their cottage is in a forest, and they play in forests, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing high in the alpine. "My wife and I are trees and rock people," says Ray. "We love the peace and basic beauty of nature."
