Asked his area of expertise, Paul says, "All around good egg." He's also a specialist in microclimate and the effects of weather on the building envelope. In 2004, when RWDI merged with the smaller UK firm co-founded by Paul, he chose to stay on and lead the operation. The UK office has grown from five to 30 people and increased revenues by an average of 35% per year. Additionally, Paul is the General Manager in charge of our Indian and Middle Eastern offices.

Having worked on super-high rise buildings such as the Russia Tower in Moscow, Paul is not convinced they are the way of the future. "I don't think the economics will hold," he says. "We'll see more 100-300 meter buildings rather than the 600- or 1,000-metre ones. There will be a much greater emphasis on integrated, sustainable design where we can apply our broad skills creatively, alongside the design teams."
