John got his job at RWDI because another candidate, who had been offered the position, failed to show up for work on his first morning. John had been working at the University of Guelph wind tunnel and had a master’s degree in dust studies and erosion. After a 10-minute interview he was hired, in the middle of a recession, and started working the next day. That was more than 20 years ago. Today, he is the general manager of the RWDI AIR Group.

John is family-oriented, loves to travel, and plays hockey, golf, and baseball. He helps coach his son's hockey team. Sometimes, he's told he seems stressed, but denies it. "I'm an amicable guy. It's internal intensity. I'm actually very easy going.
