RWDI was retained by Skidmore Owings Merrill to conduct exhaust dispersion and cladding wind load studies for a new research facility in New York.

Location

New York, NY, USA

Overview of Services Provided

Exhaust dispersion

  • Design team assistance in configuration of exhaust stacks and intakes
  • Used physical scale model tests in wind tunnel
  • Mitigative measures recommended

Wind loading

  • Simulated mean speed profile and turbulence of natural wind approach scale model of building in wind tunnel
  • Test model mounted on a turntable, allowed any wind direction to be simulated
